New Age™ Imagers
New Age Imagers LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Buzz Sales Company, Inc. The
company was formed to develop, manufacture and market technology that truly represents a “New
Age” for both the Intaglio Printing and Pad Printing industries
For fifty years Buzz Sales Company has provided premium die stamping inks for the manufacture
of genuine engraved stationery. In 1995, Buzz Sales Company initiated research and development
with the vision of producing an ultra high quality, chemical free computer-to-plate solution
for today’s engraver.
Before long, it became clear that this revolutionary technology could be adapted and utilized
to create pad printing clichés. Pad printing is a printing process that
can transfer a 2-D image onto a 3-D object. This is accomplished using an indirect offset (gravure)
printing process that involves an image being transferred from the printing plate (cliché)
via a silicone pad onto a substrate (surface to be printed). Pad printing is used for
printing on irregularly-shaped surfaces which would otherwise be impossible to print on. This
includes a very wide array of products in many industries including medical, automotive, promotional,
apparel, electronics, appliances, sports equipment and toys. It can also be used to deposit
functional materials such as conductive
inks, adhesives, dyes and lubricants.
While others have been involved in the development of laser engravers, the technology has
been relatively rudimentary. Buzz Sales Company/New Age Imagers has taken the technology
to the next level with the introduction of the Gale Force series of imagers. The introduction
of high resolution plates, directly imaged by a RIP driven laser engraver, allows for quality
and sophistication previously unobtainable in laser generated clichés. The combination
of an ultra-precise, ultra-small laser spot size and Harlequin-based RIP allow for a true 1200
dpi output. This makes screens, halftones and true four color separations not only possible,
but also quick and easy to produce.
The lasers, driven by a Harlequin-based RIP, truly integrate into modern prepress workflow.
They either replace or work alongside the Film Imagesetter currently being used. In doing
so, they eliminate the need for film, chemicals, exposure, washout and drying time. The
consolidation of image quality historically only obtainable on film, the convenience of computer
to plate technology and the benefit of workflow integration truly represents a “New Age” for
the modern pressroom.
